Click here for pictures of painted pilot models.

This famous narrow gauge line connected its namesake states and was one of the last narrow gauges in the South to close. The ET&WNC, also known as the Tweetsie, owned four of the largest Ten Wheelers built for an
American Narrow Gauge railroad, and we are offering all four of them, with the appropriate detail differences, painted in several different styles. To be released late 2008, these locomotives will be available in 5 versions:

Style 1. Twenties style. Nos. 10, 11, 12, and 14. When the ET&WNC was in its heyday, these engines were painted in basic black with simple lettering, except for the unpainted planished boiler, the Model T's of narrow gauge railroading.

Style 2. Early Hobbs. Nos. 10, 12, and 14. In 1936, master mechanic Clarence Hobbs had many of the engines repainted into a style very similar to the passenger engines on the Southern Railway. The engines
were painted a rich green, with details edged in aluminum. Gold lettering. Class came to the mountains.

Style 3. Late Hobbs. Nos. 10, 11, 12, and 14. In 1938, the lettering on the engines was modified, with a distinctive oval herald added to the cab.

Style 4. World War II. Nos. 11 and 12. During the war, the railroad went back to basic black, though the details were still distinctively painted.

Style 5. Black engine, painted, unlettered.
